For our client, the news was clear: the 10-year green card was approved.
For anyone who has waited for an immigration decision, an approval notice can mean more than a document arriving in the mail. It brings clarity about the outcome of a case and allows the individual to move forward with a better understanding of their immigration status.
At AK Poku Law, we are pleased to share this milestone and celebrate another important outcome for a client.
What Does a 10-Year Green Card Mean?
A 10-year green card is evidence of lawful permanent resident status in the United States. It generally applies to permanent residents who are not subject to conditional residence.
The distinction matters. Certain individuals who obtain permanent residence through marriage or investment may initially receive a two-year conditional green card and must take additional steps to maintain their status. A 10-year card follows a different process.
Although the card has an expiration date, lawful permanent resident status does not ordinarily expire simply because the card expires. Eligible permanent residents must generally renew the card to maintain valid proof of their status.
What If You Are Still Waiting for Your Green Card?
If your application is pending, the next step depends on the type of application you filed, its current status, and whether USCIS has requested additional evidence or taken another action.
You can check your case status through USCIS and review any notices you have received. If your case has been delayed or you are unsure what to do next, reviewing your filing history and the applicable requirements can help clarify your options.
A Milestone Worth Celebrating
Every immigration case has its own circumstances, and no approval guarantees the same result for another applicant. But when a case is approved, it is an opportunity to recognize an important step forward.
Congratulations to our client on this 10-year green card approval.
If you are waiting for a green card decision, do not rely on guesswork or assume that every case follows the same timeline. Understanding where your application stands and what action, if any, is needed is the best place to start.

We help individuals navigate the immigration process, understand their options, and take informed steps toward their immigration goals.
